Created during the winter of 2024, First Flight represents an important moment in my development as an artist. This was my first time experimenting with an oversized swoosh that stretched across the shoe and covered the screw hardware.

I intentionally exaggerated the swoosh to create more room for the bat silhouettes and additional details throughout the design. The royal blue, black, yellow, and gray color palette was inspired by the bold look of retro Batman artwork.

At the time, I was simply experimenting and trying something new. Looking back, this pair became the foundation for a concept and technique that I would continue developing in future work.

My only regret is that I didn’t make it in my size.

This is the original pair—not a reproduction. It was customized by hand in 2024 and comes with a custom-themed display case created specifically for this concept.

Because this is an original handmade creation, minor imperfections and signs of age may be present. These details are part of the history and character of the piece.
